Spanish footwear retailer Camper has revealed its renovated retail space in Barcelona. Camper Paseo de Gracia incorporates a revolutionary Catalan method of construction which uses vaulted ceramic plates as the form-work of floor slabs conceived by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma.
Kuma has chosen the ground-breaking concept of the vault, which was also a great point of reference for
catalanarchitect antoni gaudithroughout his works, as the main visual feature of the barcelonacamper store. the ceramic vault has been used here as the basic unit of the furniture, from shelves,to benches, and counters for the shoes, resulting in a warm and friendly atmosphere which reflects the culture of catalonia.
Scotch whisky brand Johnnie Walker has announced the launch of its first experiential retail flagship in Madrid. Located on the Calle de Serrano in the fashionable Barrio de Salamanca district, the concept aims to entice both whiskey lovers and novices with immersive experiences like whisky appreciation classes and tastings. A tasting table sits at the heart of the sleek, midcentury-style space, while a personalization station provides services like engravings.

Architecture enthusiasts will appreciate how the façade preserves the building’s beautiful 1930s design with wrought-iron balconies on upper levels. Interestingly, its grand central wooden door was originally a carriage entrance at street level.
