More than five retail chains are opening stores for every retailer that is closing stores in 2019, according to research from IHL Group, which is up from 3.7 in 2018. The company also reports that the number of chains adding stores in 2019 has increased by 56%, while the number of closing stores has decreased by 66% in the last year. READ MORE

Skincare brand Glossier has added a new retail concept at the Boston Seaport. The Glossier Boston pop-up is housed at The Current at the Seaport, becoming the brand’s third pop-up to open in 2019. All Glossier products will be available at the pop-up in addition to select exclusive merchandise.

Italian apparel brand Moschino has introduced a new retail space on Madison Avenue in New York. Designed by Jeremy Scott, the long-term pop-up concept spans 1,000 sq. ft. and features eight floor-to-ceiling windows on the storefront that spell out the brand’s name. WWD reports that each of the letters change color in homage to the ever-changing skyline. Neon signs are suspended from ceilings to further establish a sense of place, while a life-size Moschino teddy bear anchors the retail space.
