Tell us about your company. What kind of product or service do you provide?
Atmosphere Design Group is a full service architectural firm. The company has been in existence practicing Design and Architecture for almost fifteen years. We have a highly skilled/trained staff of architects and designers that are extremely dedicated and love their profession. Clients trust us because we always tell the truth and communicate very well. Whether it be communicating the ideas of a design through the medium of paper, or giving direction to general contractors, Architecture is really all about communication.
It all starts with the communication with the client. If the client feels that we understand their intention and communicate every detail so there is no ambiguity, after a while they look at us as a team member that they can rely on to successfully accomplish any type of project. Communication skills extend to every person associated with a project.
At the end of every week I ask all of my project managers to deliver a concise recap of everything that took place on their projects to the clients and project teams. In this document we indicate all tasks currently being done, as well as what has been completed, and what is required to maintain the schedule and finish the project. This way everyone always knows where the project is at all times, and who needs to provide information or material to the project team.

What inspired the business and where is your company today?
I realized early in my career that a company’s true power is its employees. If the employees are content and feel appreciated they feel as if they are a part of the company and not a cog in the machine. Dedication to a common goal is not something you can buy. The name Atmosphere represents my desire to create an Atmosphere for the employees of the company. To create a company that represents honesty and integrity. This is something clients notice whenever they work with anyone from Atmosphere. Often they are struck by how positive everyone is. Positivity is very powerful, especially when problems are encountered. If an employee feels valued and appreciated there are no problems, only solutions. Clients want to feel that we are their partner in the project. This is only possible if employees feel deeply invested in the company they work for. Atmosphere is only as good as its employees.
The company is presently experiencing growth in the luxury retail sector and in office interiors. Atmosphere is planning to open an office on the west coast due to the many west coast projects we are being awarded.
In which geographic area did you complete the majority of your projects?
Most of our projects have been in Texas, New York, Florida and California. Of course we have done projects in most states including Hawaii and even Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Is your company specialized in completing projects in a specific industry, e.g. Food & Beverage?
Most of our business is in high end luxury retail; however we have also done a lot of office interior and medical office work. Occasionally we will work on a residential project but Retail has been our main focus.
Tell us about one specific project you worked on and which challenges you solved?
Early in the development of Atmosphere we had the privilege to work with Thomas Heatherwick on the Longchamp SOHO project. The project has a stair that is similar to terraced rice paddies turned on its side, except it is built with steel. It was extremely challenging as we were basically inventing a new way to think about stairs. We had to figure out how to construct the stairs without any columns or supports other than where the stair met the walls. It was quite the engineering as well as an architectural masterpiece. The project was featured in Architectural Record and in fact it was on the front cover. It was also featured in numerous trade magazines including the New York Times. I also had the pleasure of being interviewed on a television show that aired on PBS.

Which milestones are you planning to achieve in the next 12 months?
Currently we are trying to expand our office interior work, as well as continuing to expand our presence in the retail sector, with our focus on luxury retail. We are also planning to open an office in Los Angeles.
What do you like most about 4URSPACE?
4URSPACE is kind of like the Amazon of construction. We want to be very much at the forefront of this idea. The web site should prove to be very valuable to those looking to build any type of project anywhere. I wish you great success!
