The new, 4,000 square-foot boutique is the brainchild of the brand’s creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, per a press release.
The interior design utilizes grey Venetian terrazzo, walnut, velvet, and kilim wool. Terrazzo lines the floor throughout, walls and openings are made of fluted gypsum panels to evoke romanticism and classicism. The fitting rooms are furnished with accents of green and blush velvet.

The 1,700-square-foot store at 3 Ninth Avenue is Loro Piana’s 23rd store in North America.
A focal point of the design is a glassencased winter garden — freestanding at the center of the boutique — which will be updated and cultivated four times a year following the seasons. The store is a combination of soft and neutral tones, mixed with natural light and flora. There is fluted Portland stone wall cladding and European oak wood finishes and metal accents have been coated in an aged white paint treatment.

On September 29th, Balmain opened an uptown New York City store, at 650 Madison Avenue. At any other point of time, this would register on the fashion industry news cycle, and thanks to attendant party and photo-ops, your IG feed. Yet right now that opening is taking on greater, and different, resonance. For one thing, Balmain’s space sits in the shadow of the shuttered Barneys New York, a grim and poignant reminder of the havoc that was being wreaked on the city’s physical retail scene even before our current situation. And for another, the specter of COVID still stalks New York, just as it does almost everywhere else in the world.

Opening Balmain New York at this precise moment of time feels like the most glorious and optimistic volley into the darkness of our increasingly unpredictable future.

Balenciaga ‘s new 4,000 square-foot flagship at 620 Madison Avenue at the southwest corner of 59th Street in Manhattan represents creative director Demna Gvasalia‘s urban retail concept, which has an industrial spirit with touches of metal, concrete, and shades of gray. The public domain concept features a mix of elements from the metropolitan exterior design and original artwork is apparent. Wraparound screens play videos of different types of skies.
Hero products from the runway are displayed on hyper-realistic mannequins for maximum impact. Across one wall, the men’s and women’s shoe area runs the gamut of footwear. The Balenciaga logo is embossed across the gray carpeting. Throughout the unit, seating is upholstered with public transportation patterns, and benches resemble those in subway stations or parks. A piece by artist Tobias Spichtig is displayed at the flagship. Spichtig made the sculptures by dipping archival Balenciaga garments in resin and pulling them into expressive positions.
